We've temporarily disabled local file search for users of our desktop app for Windows due to performance issues introduced with a recent update. This was resulting in a sub-optimal user experience that was not in line with our standards.

We are actively working to release an updated version of our desktop app for Windows with more performant and reliable local file search. Unfortunately, it's a nontrivial effort. We aim to have the issue addressed before the end of the year.
